Set Audio Output Device in Windows

Overview


You may want to change your audio output device from a headset, to built in computer speakers, or to a set of external speakers. This article describes the process for selecting a sound output device for the Windows operating system.

 

Instructions


  1. Right-click on the speaker icon in the lower right corner.
  2. Select Open Sound Settings.
  3. Select the drop-down menu under Choose your output device.
  4. Select desired output device.

An alternate way to access this setting.

  1. Select Windows Start button.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select System.
  4. Select Sound.
  5. Select the drop-down menu under Choose your output device.
  6. Select desired output device.
