Overview
Some configurations of Windows 10 do not automatically connect to the wireless network with just user name and password and require additional configuration.
This article describes setting up a manual wireless connection for Windows 10 machines.
Instructions
- Open the Control Panel.
- Change the View by option to small or large icons.
- Select Network and Sharing Center.
- Select Setup a new connection or network.
- Select Manually connect to a wireless network.
- Select Next.
- Enter "JCCC" into the Network name field.
- Select "WPA2-Enterprise" from the Security Type field.
- Check Start this connection automatically.
- Select Next.
- Select Change connection Settings.
- Check Connect automatically when this network is in range.
- Navigate to the Security tab.
- Select the Settings button next to Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP).
- Under Trusted Root Certification Authorities, check all options beginning with DigiCert. Some examples are shown below.
- DigiCert Assured ID Root CA
- DigiCert Global Root CA
- DigiCert High Assurance EV Root CA
- Select OK.
- Select the Configure button next to Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2).
- Ensure that Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any) is not checked.
- Select OK.
- Select OK.
- Select Advanced Settings.
- Check Specify Authentication Mode.
- Select User Authentication.
- Select Save Credentials.
- Enter your JCCC username and password when prompted.
- Select OK.
- Select OK.
