Employees who regularly access Banner reports are reporting a "Authentication Failed Problem in external authentication service" error. This article is for employees and details how to fix the error in Chrome and Edge browsers.
Instructions
These instructions are for employees who regularly access Banner via Chrome or Edge and are now getting an Authentication Failed (Problem in external authentication service.) error. There are instructions for both browsers in this article.
Chrome Browser
- Open the latest version of Google Chrome.
- In the address bar, type or paste: chrome://flags/#local-network-access-check
- Press Enter.
- Locate the setting “Local Network Access Checks.”
- Change the setting from Enabled (or Default) to Disabled.
- Click Relaunch when prompted to restart Chrome.
- After Chrome restarts, authentication for Banner should work again.
Edge Browser
- Open the latest version of Edge.
- In the address bar, type or paste: edge://flags/#local-network-access-check
- Press Enter.
- Locate the setting “Local Network Access Checks.”
- Change the setting from Enabled (or Default) to Disabled.
- Click Relaunch when prompted to restart Edge.
- After Edge restarts, authentication for Banner should work again.
