Sending Messages in Canvas

Overview

Email messaging within Canvas provides a method of communication for students and their instructors. Email messaging in Canvas is strictly internal messaging. Canvas cannot send messages to external email addresses.

 

Instructions

  1. Sign into Canvas.
  2. Select Inbox icon located on the list of tabs on the left side of the screen.
  3. Select the Compose a new message icon (pencil on paper) in the upper right corner.
  4. Select Course from drop-down menu.
  5. Enter the name of the desired recipient in the To field. If needed, use the address book on the right side of the field to look up possible recipients.
  6. Compose the message as desired.
  7. Select Send when finished.
