Turning Off Text Predictions in Office 365 and Outlook

Overview


This article describes the process for turning off text predictions in Office 365 and Outlook. Text prediction can happen when a user enters the first few letters of a word, and the program tries to predict the word that the user is trying to type. This option is usually enabled by default, but can be turned off in the settings.

 

Instructions


From a browser:

  1. Go to jccc.edu
  2. Select Login 
  3. Select Office 365
  4. Sign in with you with JCCC email address and password.
  5. Select the Outlook icon.
  6. Select the Gear icon in the top right corner.
  7. Select Mail on the left menu.
  8. Select Compose and reply.
  9. Scroll down to Text predictions and uncheck "Suggest words of phrases as I type".

From the Outlook application:

  1. Select File.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Select Mail
  4. Select Editor Options.
  5. Select Advanced.
  6. Uncheck Show AutoComplete suggestions.
