Overview
Canvas users are allowed 50MB of storage space by default (see attached PDF). If storage space is exceeded, the user will receive an error message and will not be able to send Canvas emails and upload assignments or other items in Canvas. This article provides the steps to determine how much space is used and how to delete files in Canvas.
Instructions
To determine the amount of storage space used:
- Log in to Canvas.
- Select the Account tab on the left.
- Select the Files option that appears.
- File space used is displayed below the folders. If it is currently 100%, files will need to be deleted.
- Files in the Submission folder does not count against the storage quota for users "My Files".
To delete any unnecessary files:
- Navigate through the folder/file explorer to review files that can be deleted.
- Hover the mouse over the file and select the three dots that appear on the far right.
- Select Delete from the options.
