Overview
Students needing to access devices and systems at JCCC remotely for classes will need to use Cloudflare Warp's VPN services (Warp). This article details the download and setup process.
Instructions
Only some classes and labs require VPN access to use. If a student isn't in the group that automatically assigns access to the student, they can request access for a legitimate need.
To download Warp:
- Go to 1.1.1.1.
- Select one of the following, depending on your device:
- NOTE: While multiple options are given below, Windows and Mac installs are the only recommended devices. You may not be able to complete homework on the other listed devices.
- Apple App Store
- Google Play
- Apple macOS
- Windows
- Linux
- The software will either automatically begin downloading or you will need to choose the location where you want it saved.
Windows
- Once the software is downloaded to your device, select it.
- Look for the file in the upper right corner of your browser or in the folder where you saved it.
- Select Next.
- Select Install.
- The software will install.
- After installation, select Finish.
- A box will pop up that offers the option of Next.
- Select Next.
- If the box goes away before you select it, locate the cloud icon in your system tray (the up arrow in the lower right corner of your task bar).
- Read and Accept the privacy policy if you agree.
- If you don't accept the policy, the software will not work.
- You'll see a pop up that shows that Warp is disconnected.
- Select the gear icon in the lower right corner.
- Select Preferences.
- Select Account.
- Select Login with Cloudflare Zero Trust.
- Select Next.
- Select Accept.
- Enter JCCCEDU into the Team Name area popup.
- Select OK.
- A browser window will open for users to enter JCCC student credentials.
- Warp may open in a box. If it doesn't open, locate a cloud icon in the system tray and select it.
- To connect to the VPN, slide the slider from left to right.
- You'll see a Connected message once you have successfully connected.
- To disconnect at the end of your session:
- Locate Warp in the system tray.
- It is a cloud icon.
- Select it.
- Slide the slider circle from right to left.
- You'll see a message that it is disconnected.
Mac
- Once the software is downloaded to your device, select it.
- Look in the upper right corner of your browser or in the folder where you saved it.
- Select Continue.
- Select Install.
- You may need to enter the device password and select Install.
- The box will display that the installation was successful and open another box named Warp.
- If you close the install box now, the Warp box will disappear.
- Look in the upper right corner of your screen for a cloud icon.
- Select the cloud icon and it will open the box again.
- Select the gear icon in the Warp box.
- Select Preferences.
- Select the Account tab.
- Select Login to Cloudflare Zero Trust.
- Enter JCCCEDU for the Team name.
- Select Done.
- What is Cloudflare Zero Trust will open.
- Select Next.
- Read and accept the privacy policy.
- A browser will open with a JCCC Sign in page.
- Enter your JCCC credentials in the format of username@stumail.jccc.edu.
- Select Next.
- Enter your password.
- Select Signin.
- You may be prompted to open Cloudflare Warp. Or it may show up in the upper right corner as a cloud icon.
- The Warp box will now also have Zero Trust in large letters and a slider.
- Move the slider circle from the left to the right to connect.
- It will display Connected.
- To disconnect at the end of your session:
- Locate Warp in the system tray.
- It is a cloud icon.
- Select it.
- Slide the slider circle from right to left.
- You'll see a message that it is disconnected.
- You may close the installation box by selecting Close.
